well ! any lubricant can make a virginity braker stronger enough to succeed...(however I'm not the best qualified in that matter...you see)
In the first Christmas special when Mary told Matthew about Pamuk, she said she was "fallen" and "impure" which seems to indicate she is not a virgin anymore, plus she compared her and Matthew to Tess of the D'urbervilles and Angel Clare, though in that it was slightly different but not entirely: Tess was raped and had a child, then fell in love with Angel but he was appalled when he learned from Tess about this (as Mary feared Matthew would, but she ended up not being Tess thankfully - Matthew was a good man).

So mary did lose you virginity to Pamuk and she was supposed to use the vial of blood on her wedding night so that she could still pretend to be a virgin for her husband.
Finnally, ths secret has been disclosed.
Pamuk certainly did look Turkish! I've visited many times and the men, when young, are very handsome.
And who on earth is to say who looks Turkish?? It's a huge country, and therefore exhibits a large variety of appearance amongst the population.
Also (further above); "Dare we say sodomy"....Christ, it's 2015 - "anal" will suffice.....
Maybe he was starting and didn't have enough time to... Or he was planning something else (not necessary anal), like masturbation or oral sex.
Anyway, the Crawley's daughter's vaginas are haunted XDDD
Oh, give me a break. Do you really think Julian Fellowes would have had Mary engage in anal sex?
The other poster is correct. The script included reference to a phial of blood, which was cut in the filming, and Fellowes is on record as saying it's his biggest regret of the entire show because of the no end of confusion it confused. He did NOT mean for Mary to have had anal sex. Mary and Pamuk had regular intercourse and Pamuk dropped dead. End of.
What do you think?
