I saw my very first episode of Downton Abbey five days ago and became a fan 10 minutes into the first episode. Great cast, scripts, location, scenery, costumes. Makes me wonder why this much detail and effort wasn't given to the making of "The White Queen". I have to say though, that for me, the most dislikeable character is Lady Mary Crawley (and I do know that Michelle Dockery and Lady Mary are not the same. Dockery is such a good actress in her portrayal). Lady Mary: Greedy, grasping, haughty, lazy, arrogant, cold, social climbing, unkind, and on and on. The British aristocracy has a reputation for this type of behavior and one of the reasons why we, now Americans, got the hell out and set sail for the new world. I sincerely hope that Michelle Dockery is not typecast in these roles in the future and has a great and long acting career like one of my favorite British actresses, Maggie Smith, who is delicious in her role as Dowager Countess of Grantham.
