Oh please don't let Sybbie and her dad be written out and go to Boston. This little actress is a gem and the scenes with her father and her grandfather are one of the best things on what is becoming a rather tired show!

I know how you feel. She was absolutely adorable, and I loved it when she called Robert donk and how in the end he gave in.
Sybbie and Tom must come back soon. They are my favourites on the show. Perehaps Sybbie could be homesick or something but the show will not be the same without them!
If she and Branson are to return, I don't think it will be until the next Christmas at least.
I think they will return earlier. Julian Fellowes can't be that stupid - or can her?!
On the other hand, he will have a slew of characters in the US to work with - in New York, there are or will be Martha Levinson (who is Sybbie's great-grandmother), Harold Levinson, Ivy Stuart, Ethan Slade, Lady Rose Aldridge, and Atticus Aldridge. I can easily imagine all sorts of plot lines involving any and all of them with Tom and his daughter. We've had scenes outside of Downton before -- so why not in 1925 New York, or in Newport RI?
But to do what exactly? Tom has been an artifact character since Sybill died - seriously, he's had no real storyline apart from wandering about questioning his own presence at Downton - let him have a break, and return for the last ever episode or something.
Apparently America is now the substitute for killing off established characters, with Ivy, and now presumably Tom and Rose all moving there. :)
Does it show them actually leaving? Or just saying goodbye at the Christmas party.
Maybe between then and the new season there will come a reason for them to stay and Tom will be given a new exciting plot line.
