Will they find love ...if selfish ole Daisy quits trying to spoil things! Kind of an odd couple but they have been hinting at this since last season.
You know, I hope it's just a good friendship for the both of them because that's still quite an unusual thing in the series, a solid male-female plantonic relationship. Mary and Tom are the only example and I dont want Patmore and Mason to be a case of, "oh well, they're roughly the same age so they'll work together." It makes romance seem too simple, you don't fall in love because they are the only person of the opposite sex around who is roughly the same age as you.
I also don't want Julian Fellowes to tie up all the storylines with the same knot (of marriage). Apparently there will be "at least 1 death and 2 more weddings (after Hughes and Carson)" in the series. I think one of the weddings will be Edith and Bertie and I really hope the second one will be Lord Merton and Isobel. I know the quote was "at least" but I don't want a wedding overkill!
Yes, it's good for Mr. Mason and Mrs. P to have a platonic relationship. There's not time to develop into love at this point. Which also means Tom will not likey find another sould mate in the time that's left. But Isobel and Lord Merton in my mind fit into your category that they are roughly the same age so they'll work together. I think he loves her but she sure doesn't seem to have found the love of her life in him. It seems like she enjoys the companionship but there's no spark in her eyes when she interacts with him. She didn't even seem sad when they broke things off last season.
I am afraid of finding out who they kill off for the next funeral though. After Matthew and Sybil, I don't know if I can take another major character dying! Seems like Fellowes needs to come up with more story lines than death or marriage.
And he needs to come up with more than another story about Thomas being gay.
Thomas is brilliant at being the bad butler like when he played the trick on Rose's father in laws butler. Now that was funny!
What do you think?
