I'm not sure what this Amelia Cruickshank is about to bring to the table but it looks interesting and I suspect that ol' Lord Merton has a cunning plan. Will they end up together?

Ya never know. Remember how they teased us with Matthew marrying LaVinia but it never came to being. I don't see Lord Merton being the love of Isobels life. He seems like more of a companion that she would settle for in her old age.
I would hope Merton is not behind any cunning plan, because if Isobel found out that would likely ruin any hope he has of them getting back together. And personally I hope they do.
As for Miss Cruikshank, the next episode's few trailers and spoilers I've seen suggest Violet is suspicious of her. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Well, Miss Cruikshank does seem to be a really good person, but what I don't get is how someone like that would get engaged to an absolute jerk like Larry.
By "cunning plan" I actually meant it as a light-hearted way, like he's hatching a plan (with Miss Cruikshank) to try and get Isobel to marry him. He'd kind of backed off and I think he's going for it again.
I really do hope they end up together, he really likes her and even though I think she was a bit stand-offish at the start, it seems she's changed her mind. I think before she thought she was too "past it" to get romantically involved but I think it's a great to show that romantic love isn't just for the young and isn't all about smooching in tunnels or secret trysts in Liverpool...
Miss Cruikshank is in the storyline for an important reason and will end up with Tom Branson, I think. Tom sort of took Sybil away from Larry Grey once and I think it would be perfect justice for him to do the same thing again to that contemptuous little snot.
I recall Merton saying last season he was never going to be on good terms with Larry ever again following the letter his son sent to Isobel. It sounds as if he almost is now, or partially, which doesn't make sense. And I'm wondering where Tim Grey is in all this now. Sure he shares Larry's beliefs, but lacks his brother's rudeness, making him the lesser evil. I would think he'd be easier to win over to accepting Isobel than Larry.
Goodness. Miss Cruikshank is a little weasel, no wonder she's marrying Larry - he has found his soulmate in her!
Now I can't decide whether I want Lord Merton and Isobel to be together. On the one hand, I'd like them to have companionship as they get older but, on the other hand, I would really like spite greedy Larry and his scheming fiance.
Hm. Hopefully Lord Merton disowns Larry and Tim, and the heirship of the title Lord Merton goes to his new stepgrandson, George Crawley.
