Robert is the only character that I hate.
@DameMarguerite How come?
Not always. But he ignored Cora's opinions, and thinks his bad management wasn't that bad. Also when it was turned out that Mary was heiress of Matthew and became Robert's co-owner of Downton, he was really mean to his own daughter. And often yelling at women like Lady Sybil, Lady Rosamund, and Cora.
@DameMarguerite I could not agree more! Most of the time it makes me angry the way he speaks to people! Especially Cora!
@DameMarguerite My other comment was meant for you
I didn't vote for Robert and all the criticism above is valid. The one thing, though, is that he always comes around to the right side of things, which I think is quite admirable, given the times and the social position he was raised in. I dare say that he'd be quite unique among his peers. His love for his family always eventually wins out over his trained-in hideboundness.
I should add, however, that the fact he needs to learn his lesson over and over is a strike against him (and also perhaps a weak-point in the show's writing).
@LossMentality I agree, he did come round in the end but 9/10 times, he did so reluctantly. I do like him, but I must say I despise him in season 5 for so blatantly ignoring Cora, but I do like him all the same
What do you think?
