Andrew ("Andy") is a footman promoted from hall boy that Mr. Carson found to work the week of Rose's wedding. Denker takes advantage of him to go out drinking, but Barrow comes to his rescue, teaching Denker a lesson in the process.
Although based in London, in December 1924 he is called up to Yorkshire to help out with the Christmas celebrations at Downton, and probably to stay on permanently as a new footman. Mr Carson had expressed doubts about Andy's suitability to fill the new footman post (because of the gambling-club incident), but Mrs Hughes urged him to give the boy a second chance.
