I thought a discussion about series six might be fun. So, what's been your favourite part of the series so far? Least favourite? Anything you still hope to see?
My favourite part would be seeing Edith taking charge at the magazine more - I think Micheal Gregson would be proud of her.
My least favourite parts would be how depressing Thomas' storyline has been and the boring beyond belief hospital storyline. Surely they could find something more interesting than that for Violet to do?
As always I'm hoping for more stories from downstairs (but not the Bates), but I won't hold my breath. :)
I understand that Larry gets drafted during WWII and though is captured by the Germans, he successfully convinces them that he's a bigger Nazi than any of them. He is last seen being ordered by Hitler to walk his dog while Berlin is under attack by the Russians.
Who said it. Queen Elizabeth II or the Dowager Countess.
I hold my head in shame, I missed four.
Some fun while waiting for our favorite period drama to resume.
The Fantastical Early Roles of the 'Downton Abbey' Cast
Michelle as a blonde? :)
Here's a funny piece about the decorating lessons we can learn from Downton Abbey:
I think what is going to happen is that Lady Edith is going to be pregnant and that man that she is interested with is going to let her down, or be killed off somehow. Another thing I feel is that Bates is going to kill that valet one way or another and I loved the end scene where he told Mrs Hughes, that he will contain this crime from all the House, but only he would deal with it. Like a PROPER husband should do.
I personally thought the rape scene was violent in a subliminal way but this did happen in big houses, etc.
Does the Earl of Grantham use Grecian 2000 or something? Why is the Dowager still alive and sharp witted (after a period of 15 yrs) and the girls/boys still have the face of youth around them/
I notice this at every episode, and btw, I was a big fan of the old period drama Upstairs, Downstairs too, but in that show, it was only the Upstairs that aged slightly. Interesting
So, we've all seen the new trailer then! What does everyone else think? What are everyone's theories for what we might see in the new series having seen the trailer?
It looked to me at one point in the trailer that Jimmy and Ivy were dancing in the kitchen and later got caught kissing by the new valet Green - did I see that right? And I'm guessing that might be the cause of Daisy's tears.
There also seems to be a prison visit for Mrs Hughes (at least it looked like a prison to me) was it Joe Burns she was visiting?
There was also Tom Branson kissing someone unless I'm much mistaken, not sure who that was! More kissing, as there was also a short glimpse of Edith kissing Michael Gregson, I can't wait to see how their story unfolds. I'm wondering if he still has a secret or if she might leave home to live "in sin" with him.
There also seems to be troubled times ahead for Anna and John Bates, I'm still not convinced that he didn't kill his wife. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a much darker side to him in this series.
They also seem to be hinting at there being a romance between Rose MacClare and Jack Ross, that should cause some drama! And was that Rose involved in the fight scene we saw?
I'm also betting we get some very touching scenes involving Mary, she was crying on Carson's shoulder at one point, and Violet was giving her advice. I just hope the whole series isn't mired down too much in grieving too much for Matthew.
I've just got one complaint about the trailer - not enough Thomas!
