Brendan Coyle (born on 2nd December 1963; Corby, England) is the actor who plays John Bates in Downton Abbey.
Behind the Scenes
- Coyle and Downton co-star Kevin McNally both starred in the 2012 film The Raven. As in Downton Abbey, they never appeared together onscreen. Coyle's role in The Raven was as a barman, just as John Bates briefly was in Series 2 of Downton Abbey.
- Both Coyle and Hugh Bonneville had minor roles in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, which starred Samantha Bond as Miss Moneypenny.
- Coyle starred in Lark Rise to Candleford, as did Oliver Dimsdale.
