Brendan Coyle (born 2nd December, 1963; Corby, Northamptonshire, England) is the actor who plays John Bates in Downton Abbey.
Behind the Scenes
- Coyle and Downton co-star Kevin McNally both starred in the 2012 film The Raven. As in Downton Abbey, they never appeared together onscreen. Coyle's role in The Raven was as a barman, just as John Bates briefly was in Series 2 of Downton Abbey.
