Ripon's Catholic church is the site of the christening of Sybil "Sybbie" Branson in 1920. In attendance were her father, uncle, various members of her maternal family, a photographer, and the priest who christened Sybbie, Father Dominic.

- It is possible that Tom attended mass here while working as the chauffeur, and then again with his daughter while living at Downton. However this remains unconfirmed.
- There is a real life Catholic parish in Ripon called St. Wilfrid's Church.
