Sir Herbert Strutt is a Lieutenant General in the British army who visited Downton Abbey during the Great War.
Series 2
The general meeting Lord and Lady Grantham on his arrival at Downton.
Tom Branson intended to humiliate him by pouring a pot of slop over his head during one dinner, but Mr. Carson, Mrs. Hughes, and Anna stopped him before he could act.
The general soon left, never knowing of the incident.

- The general was referred to as "the hero of the Somme" but he is a fictitious character.
