Lieutenant General Sir Herbert Strutt[1] is a senior British Army Officer during the Great War. He visits Downton Abbey during the Great War to dine with the Crawleys and inspect the convalescences home they have established.

Tom Branson intended to humiliate him by pouring a pot of slop over his head during one dinner, but Mr. Carson, Mrs. Hughes, and Anna stopped him before he could act.
The general soon left, never knowing of the incident.
