Imelda Staunton is the actress who portrays Maud Bagshaw in the feature film Downton Abbey.

Her film roles include Much Ado About Nothing, Sense and Sensibility (which also starred Harriet Walter), and Shakespeare in Love. She starred in two Harry Potter films (as Dolores Umbridge of the Minister of Magic), which also starred Maggie Smith. She starred alongside Richard E. Grant in Twelfth Night. She appeared in Cambridge Spies, as did James Fox, Patrick Kennedy, and Ronald Pickup; Gareth Neame was an executive producer.

  • Imelda Staunton is the real-life spouse of Jim Carter, who portrays Charles Carson. They both starred in Shakespeare in Love, where she portrayed a nurse and he portrayed an actor portraying a nurse (inspired by her character).
