Samantha Bond (Born as Samantha Jane Bond on 27th November, 1961; Kensington, London, England) is the actress who plays Rosamund Painswick in Downton Abbey.

Not new to Masterpiece Theatre, she has appeared in Home Fires, Lark Rise to Candleford, and The Ginger Tree. She has guest starred in popular BBC TV series: Inspector Morse, Rumpole of the Bailey, Agatha Christie's Poirot, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Agatha Christie's Marple, New Tricks, and Midsomer Murders. 

Most recently, she appears in the season premiere of Murdoch Mysteries' Season 10 (2016) as Lady Suzanne Atherly in Great Balls of Fire, Parts 1 and 2.

She is most well-known for playing Miss Moneypenny to Pierce Brosnan's James Bond and Lady Macbeth in the Albery Theatre London production of Shakespeare's Macbeth (dir. Ed Hall) alongside Sean Bean as Macbeth.

Samantha Bond is the daughter of actor Philip Bond and TV producer Pat Sandys, and is the sister of the actress Abigail Bond and the journalist Matthew Bond. She was brought up in London, in homes in Barnes and St Margarets. She attended the Godolphin and Latymer School, and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
