I'm wondering how Bates knew that O'Brien put the soap on Cora's bathroom floor and caused her to fall and lose the baby. 16:37, May 15, 2015 (UTC)

When O'Brien was plotting to have Barrow destroyed (i.e. forced to leave with no reference, or else be imprisoned for homosexuality), Bates was feeling sorry for Barrow as he had been in prison and offered to help him force O'Brien to stop if he knew something about her that could be used against her. Barrow told him to say "her ladyship's soap" to O'Brien, which is what he did and she stopped. But Bates never knew what exactly it meant. 18:25, May 15, 2015 (UTC)
