I was watching a Q&A discussion with the cast that included the show co-creator, and he said that he is often asked if the show would get as far as WWII, but that would require them to replace a lot of the cast, as their characters would be too old. It's just a tiny part, but I'll put in the link as the whole thing is interesting and funny, [here]. I would like to see them deal with the Great Depression, Communism, Hitler's Rise to Power, and all kinds changing ideas in the 30's.
