The London offices of The Sketch are where the magazine is edited and published. It was previously owned and managed by Michael Gregson, but has since been inherited by Edith Crawley.
1920
Edith comes to the London office for the first time to meet Gregson, who has written to her offering her a column in the magazine. She accepts his offer and comes sometimes to discuss her articles with him. She later confronts him in his office when she finds out he is married, and he explains to her his wife is in an asylum and due to English divorce laws he cannot divorce her because of her insanity.
1922
After Michael goes missing in Germany, his office employs private detectives to go search for him, and regularly contact Edith with updates.
1924
When Edith receives word Michael is dead, she inherits his publishing company. After she runs away with her daughter Marigold in the hopes of keeping her in her life after her grandmother and aunt Rosamund threaten to take her away, Atticus Aldridge suggests the family contact the office as they may be able to get in touch with her.
Lady Grantham and Rosamund go to the offices. A receptionist there insists they do not know if Edith will come in, and asks if they could just leave a message for Edith that they want to see her. Then Edith comes out of her office and is upset to find her mother and aunt there. She insists she won't come back, and after Cora threatens to openly discuss the situation in front of Edith's employees, Edith suggests they talk in a nearby tea room.
1925
A disgruntled editor, Mr Skinner, causes problems for Edith, and is soon fired by her. Due to Mr Skinner leaving, Bertie Pelham helps her out with the magazine for a short while. Edith then hires Laura Edmunds to co-edit the magazine with her.Appearances and Mentions
